Wrestler Karapet Chalyan captured gold at the international tournament “Dan Kolov-Nikola Petrov”

The 54th international tournament “Dan-Kolov-Nikola Petrov” has kicked off in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Narek Khachatryan, Gevorg Gharibyan (59kg), Karapet Chalyan (75kg) and Edgar Khachatryan (130kg) came out in the first day.
In the 1/8 finals, Narek Khachatryan (59kg) lost 0:8 to Venezuela’s Raibes Rodriguez.

Gevorg Gharibyan of the same weight class defeated 8:0 Algeria’s Zetaiet Mouates in the 1/8 finals. In the quarter-finals the Armenian wrestler blew away Iran’s Muhamadreza Gereaye. In the semifinals, Gharibyan won 10:1 Bulgaria’s Nikolai Vichyev but lost 0:6 to Aleksandr Kostadinov in the finals.

Karapet Chalyan (75kg) launched from the quarter-finals beating 6:0 Bulgaria’s Stilian Naydenov. In the semifinals, Chalyan gained advantage over Luis Avendano (Venezuela) and in the finals the Armenian wrestler blew away Bulgaria’s Ilian Georgiyev with a score of 8:0. He become a bronze medalist.

Edgar Khachatryan’s (130 kg) first opponent was Bulgaria’s Lyobomir Dimortrov to whom the Armenian wrestler lost 0:8.
On January 30 Mihran Harutyunyan (71 kg), Maksim Manukyan and Artur Shahinyan (85kg) will compete.
