Weightlifter Andranik Karapetyan grabs a little bronze medal at the World Championship

At the World Championship in Houston Andranik Karapetyan (77kg) came in 4th. In the first snatch Andranik Karapetyan lifted 164kg, in the second one he couldn’t afford 167kg but in the third time he lifted 167kg conquering a little bronze medal. In the first clean and jerk the Armenian weightlifter couldn’t lift 191kg but then he managed to hold the barbell.

In the third attempt he lifted 196kg. With the double-event of 363kg Andranik Karapetyan placed 4th. He conceded only by personal weight to the Egyptian Mahmud Mohamed Ihab. In this weight class the World champion became Nijad Rahimov (Kazakhstan) with the double-event of 372kg.

Tigran Martirosyan couldn’t snatch 163kg and failed in the next two attempts earning 0 points.

Nazik Avdalyan will come out on November 26-27 at 1:30 am. On November 27-28 Sona Poghosyan (75kg) at 1:00 am and Simon Martirosyan (105kg) at 3:30 am will struggle for medals. Super heavyweight Gor Minasyan and Ruben Aleksanyan at 1:00 am and Hripsime Khurshudyan (75+ kg) at 3:30 am will compete in the last day of the competition.
