Bucharest 2019: Day 2 summary

On the second day of the European Wrestling Championship wrestlers of 61, 74, 86, 92 and 125 kg weight classes entered the mat.
At 61 kg Arsen Harutyunyan started the struggle from the qualification round where he won 14:8 Ukrainian Vladimir Bulukov, in the quarterfinals he overcame 5:2 Turk Recep Topal and in the semifinals he gained advantage over Romanian Nikolay Okhlopkov. In the final he will face Georgian Beka Lomtadze.
Varuzhan Kajoyan at 74 kg conceded 0:10 to Georgian Avtandil Kenchadze in the qualification round and dropped out of the further competition.
At 86 kg Hovhannes Mkhitaryan lost 4:2 to Greek Georgios Savulidis in the qualification round and left the struggle.
In the 125 kg weight class Andranik Galstyan won 10:0 Latvian Dimitras Mikhailovis in the 1/8 finals but conceded 11:0 to Olympic champion Turkey’s Taha Akgul in the quarterfinals. Despite the defeat tomorrow Andranik Galstyan will have a chance to wrestle for a bronze medal as today Agul reached the final. In the repechage round Galstyan’s opponent will be Romanian Rares Chintoa.
As for the Armenian wrestlers of the first competition day who had got rights to continue from the repechage round, David Safaryan (70 kg) lost 7:1 to Magomedrasul Gazimagomedov from Russia and Vazgen Tevanyan didn’t enter the mat because of an injury.
