FIDE: Levon Aronyan drops out of competition

Leading player of the Armenia chess team Levon Aronyan failed to overcome the 1/8 finals of the first round tournament of the FIDE Grand Prix series held in Moscow.
Levon Aronyan drew the second game with Russian Ian Nepomniachtchi playing with white pieces and dropped out of the competition. The Russian GM had won the first game on the 72nd moved. The tournament is held in a knock-out format.
GMs play two classical games. In case of an equal score the struggle will be continued in a tie-break by the rules of fast and blitz chess.
16 chess players take part in the tournament.
