Armenia’s representative Lyova Gevorgyan (92 kg) was named freestyle wrestling champion among cadets at the European Championship underway in Faenza, Italy.
In the final fight Gevorgyan had a volitional victory 6:3 over Russia’s Islam Karton.
The young wrestler had started the competition from the qualification round where had defeated 4:0 Azerbaijani Sagadulla Agaev.
In the 1/8 finals our wrestler had overcome 10:0 Greek Gviki Bliatze.
In the ¼ final Gevorgyan had prevailed over Bulgarian Vasilev Karamfilkov, 11:0 and in the semifinal he had won 10:0 Macedonia’s Redjep Hajdar.
On June 23 wrestler Grenik Asatryan (60 kg) became a silver medalist losing the final bout (1:6) to Azerbaijan’s Sabir Javarov.
Menua Yribekyan at 71 kg became a bronze medalist winning 6:4 Moldavian Lilian Balan.
