Minsk 2019: Gurgen Hovhannisyan concedes defeat in ¼ final

Boxer Gurgen Hovhannisyan (+91 kg) ended his performance at the 2nd European Games underway in Minsk.

In the ¼ final Hovhannisyan fought against Germany’s Nelvi Tiafack and conceded defeat 2:3 depriving of the chance to participate in a fight for a medal.

Gurgen Hovhannisyan had started performing from the 1/16 finals where had won 3:2 Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Veletik Dusan. In the 1/8 final the Armenian athlete had prevailed over Turkey’s Ilyas Muchahit, 3:2.

Armenian boxer Baregham Harutyunyan who performed on June 26 also lost the ¼ final bout.

Today Anush Grigoryan (51 kg), Karen Tonakanyan (60 kg), Hovhannes Bachkov (64 kg) and Gor Nersesyan (81 kg) will continue the struggle too.
