15:32 - 03 Oct, 2019

On the opening day of the IOC new headquarters in Lausanne the IOC Executive Board was given a report on the steps being taken in boxing on the road to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

The Chair of the Monitoring Group, Nenad Lalovic, spoke about the achievements they had since the IOC Session in June.
First of all, the anti-doping arrangements for Tokyo 2020 will be maintained in the qualification events and the International Testing Agency (ITA) will do over 500 tests. The Olympic Boxing Taskforce has also greatly concentrated on the collaboration with the National Olympic Committees and National Federations by using every existing opportunity. Even a special, multi-language website has been launched for athletes.
For the first time, the IOC Athletes’ Commission has started a direct engagement with athletes prior to the Olympic Games and managed to send 8.500 athletes to 15 international tournaments.
As a result of such an extensive work the athletes will be informed before the Olympic Games and excited to take part in the world’s most important sporting event.
