Armenian chess players launch European Team Chess Championship

On 24 October Batumi will host the European Team Chess Championship in the first round of which the Armenia men’s chess team will face the Norway team.

The leading player of the Armenia chess team, Levon Aronyan, will miss the first round which will be played by Gabriel Sargsyan, Hrant Melkumyan, Hayk Martirosyan and Arman Pashikyan.
Finland will be the first rival of the Armenia women’s chess team. Lilit Mkrtchyan, Siranush Ghukasyan, Maria Gevorgyan and Anna Sargsyan will perform in the team while the team’s leading female player, Elina Danielyan, will miss the round.
The European Team Chess Championship will be held at Sheraton Batumi Hotel and will come to an end on 2 November. The opening ceremony took place on 23 October.
