Armenian weightlifters had a successful performance at the Alexander Cup 2019 which was held in the memory of two-time Olympic champion Alexander Kurlovich in Grodno, Belarus.
Andranik Karapetyan (81 kg) lifted a total of 343 kg (161+182) and placed second.
Ruben Aleksanyan and Gor Minasyan shone in the super heavyweight class. Aleksanyan was crowned champion scoring a total of 411 kg (180+231) and Minasyan won a silver medal with 410 kg (190+220).
Armenia’s only representative among women Izabela Yaylyan (59 kg) won a silver medal with a total of 202 kg (92+110).
The Alexander Cup is qualifying for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
