Armenia’s sports delegation leaves for Lillehammer

Armenia’s sports delegation has left for Lillehammer where on February 12 the II Winter Youth Olympic Games will kick off. 

Armenia will be represented there by skier Mikael Mikaelyan and figure skater Anastasia Galustyan who will join the team from Moscow.

The Armenian sports delegation is led by the head of the sports department of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia, Gagik Bolshikyan.

The second Winter Youth Olympic Games will be held in the Norwegian town Lillehammer which will host Olympics for the second time in its history. In 1994 Lillehammer hosted the XVII Winter Olympic Games and it was the only candidate to put its bid for the 2016 Youth Olympics. On December 7, 2011 it was officially announced as the host city of the Olympics. Lillehammer is the second city after Innsbruck to host both Winter Olympics and Youth Olympics. During the opening ceremony Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway will light the Olympic flame as her father Crown Prince Haakon, did in 1994.

The Winter Youth Olympic Games will be held from February 12 to 21.
