Levon Julfalakyan: The most important for us is to gain qualifications

Greco-Roman wrestlers are holding a training camp in Yerevan under supervision of head coach Levon Julfalakyan.

The team’s coach answered a few questions in a meeting with reporters.
In response to the question why London Olympics’ silver medalist, world former champion, 75kg Arsen Julfalakyan isn’t going to the first qualifier Julfalakyan said, “To say the truth, I see nothing surprising in sending Karapet Chalyan to the qualifier. At the later European Championship he showed himself perfectly and now taking into account that this qualifier will be easier to win we have decided to send Chalyan. The next qualifier which will be held in Mongolia will be tougher and there is where we will send Arsen Julfalakyan. The most important for us is to gain qualifications and represent our country with honor at the Rio Olympics”.
Referring to World Wrestling Union President Nenad Lalovic’s claim that athletes from seven countries of the former USSR are accused of using stimulants, Julfalakyan stressed, “I’m 99% confident of my team. But there is an individual factor here; if no one of the athletes did willfully something we don’t know, I don’t see any danger. Before using any vitamins we consult our doctors and specialists”.
Speaking about the training camp the coach noted that it is aimed at special physical preparing and will last till April 2.
The following wrestlers will struggle for Rio qualifications; Roman Amoyan (59kg), Karapet Chalyan (75kg), Artur Shahinyan (85kg) and Edgar Khachatryan (130kg). Team’s coaches Samvel Gevorgyan and Eduard Sahakyan will accompany the wrestlers.
