15:30 - 30 Mar, 2016

The first wrestling tournament among girls was held at the Children and Youth Olympic Wrestling School after Norayr Musheghyan.

The tournament was attended by wrestlers of junior age from Yerevan and Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. The athletes competed in two weight classes – U 50kg and U60kg.
Ani Arakelyan became the winner of the U50kg weight class and Zhenya Khachatryan from Nagorno-Karabakh came in first in the U60kg weight class.
“This tournament is held for the first time. We decided to set up an open championship for girls making them to feel rivalry and get used to it. I am glad that in our country girls have begun to take an interest in wrestling. They train in our sports school, “Hayastan” sports union, Artimed and Artsakh. When the girls’ team grows bigger with time the federation will surely support it. But we still have to work much for it”, the headmaster of the Children and Youth Olympic Wrestling School after Norayr Musheghyan, Samvel Gevorgyan, said to the ANOC press service.
