Wrestler Georgy Ketoyev conquers an Olympic qualification

New member of the Armenian freestyle wrestling team Georgy Ketoyev (97kg) conquered an Olympic qualification at the Olympic Qualification tournament underway in Mongolia.

Olympic bronze medalist confidently reached the finals (11:0, 11:0 and 7:0) where he will compete against Uzbekistan’s Magomed Ibragimov.

Davit Safaryan at 65kg lost 1:4 to a Georgian opponent in the 1/8 finals, but the last one reached the finals letting Safaryan continue the fight. In the comforting fight the Armenian wrestler won a French athlete (6:2). Safaryan will fight for a bronze medal and qualification.

Grigor Grigoryan (74kg) was defeated in the quarter-finals and dropped out of the competition.

Shamir Atyan (86kg) lost to an American athlete in the first round but got an opportunity to keep fighting. In the first comforting bout Atyan won 10:2 to a Greek wrestler, in the second comforting bout his opponent will be Poland’s representative.
