Armenian Youth Weightlifting Championships have kicked off

The 2016 Youth Weightlifting Championships have kicked off at the Yerevan State Sports College of Olympic Reserve.

On the first day of the men’s competition athletes of 52kg and 62kg weight classes competed for medals. In the lightweight class, 56kg, Hamlet Mnatcakanyan became Armenia’s champion (double event – 195kg), Khachik Harutyunyan came second (double-event – 193kg) and Gor Hakobyan – third (double-event – 186kg).
The best at 62kg was declared Davit Gasparyan scoring 254kg in the double-event. Armen Grigoryan (double-event – 251kg) and Marzpet Minasyan (double-event – 254kg) finished second and third, respectively.
On the eve the Girl’s Youth Championship had been held where Mariam Simonyan (48kg), Valentina Movsisyan (53kg), Arpine Termenyan (58kg), Tsovinar Kirakosyan (63kg), Ani Vardanyan (69kg), Sona Poghosyan (75) and Arpine Dalalyan (+75kg) had become champions.
On April 26 weightlifters of 69kg, 77kg and 85kg weight classes will compete.
