From May 16-22 Spanish Gijon will host the European Sambo Championships where Armenia will have 19 representatives.
Armenia’s representatives in the sports sambo will be Tigran Kirakosyan (52 kg), Grigor Mkhitaryan (57 kg), Maksim Manukyan (62 kg), Rafik Manukyan (68 kg), Robert Gabrelyan (74 կգ), Vahagn Chalyan (82 kg), Edik Petrosyan (90 kg) and Arman Avanesyan (100 kg).
In the combat sambo our representatives will be John Balayan (52 kg), Poghos Badalyan (57 kg), Arman Niazyan (62 kg),Vachik Vardanyan (68 kg), Mavrik Nasibyan (74 kg), David Petrosyan (82 kg) and Avetik Poghosyan (90 kg). Asya Lalazaryan (48 kg), Sose Balasanyan (52 kg), Lilith Poghosyan (60 kg) and Gayane Petikyan (64 kg) will perform in the women’s competition.
The Armenian delegation has left for Spain on May 15. Coaches Ernest Mirzoyan, Hayk Avetisyan and Vovik Khojayan have joined them too. The delegation is led by president of the Sambo Federation of Armenia Mikael Hayrapetyan.
