Varazdat Lalayan was named a champion of the Junior World Championship ended in Fiji.
In the super heavy weight class (+109 kg) the Armenian representative registered total 419 kg (192+227) and lifted a kilo more than Iranian runner-up Ali Davudi.
On the last day of the Junior World Championship Armenia’s only female representative Arpine Dalalyan (+87 kg) performed in the women’s competition and ended up on the 4th place.
The Armenian weightlifter lifted 241 kg (101+140) in total while in the clean and jerk Dalalyan won a small bronze medal.
Earlier Karen Avagyan (89 kg) had placed 4th and Armen Grigoryan (73 kg) and Rafik Harutyunyan (81 kg) had come 6th.
Shahinyan was stronger than Manukyan in the Armenian final.
The World Championship kicks off on November 20 and ends on November 28.
