European Championship: Armenia team wins Azerbaijan

The Armenia team won 2.5:1.5 Azerbaijan in the penultimate, 8th, round of the European Team Chess Championship coming to an end in Batumi, Georgia․

Armenia’s current champion Arman Pashikyan, who was playing on the 4th board with white pieces, was the only one to win in the Armenia team.

Levon Aronyan, Gabriel Sargsyan and Hrant Melkumyan ended in a draw their matches.
Before the last round the Armenia team shares 4-6 places with 11 points.
The Armenia women’s team tied the round with leading team Russia.
Anna Sargsyan won Valentina Gunina with black pieces, Lilit Mkrtchyan and Elina Danielyan tied their matches and Siranush Ghukasyan suffered defeat.

The Armenia women’s team has 11 points and shares the 4-5 positions with Turkey.
In the last round the Armenia team will compete with Greece and the women’s team will face Azerbaijan.
