The 76th men's and the 71st women's Armenian Chess Championships are kicking off.
The men's Championship is attended by 12 chess players. Armenia's champion title contenders are Tigran Petrosyan, Robert Hovhannisyan, Arman Pashikyan, Samvel Ter-Sahakyan, Zaven Andriasyan, Hovhannes Gabuzyan, Hovik Hayrapetyan, Manuel Petrosyan, Levon Babujyan, Arman Mikaelyan, Norayr Torosyan and the current champion of Armenia, Karen Grigoryan.
Among women 10 chess players will compete: Mane Adamyan, Sona Asatryan, Armine Babayan, Susanna Gaboyan, Narine Gasparyan, Maria Gevorgyan, Siranush Ghukasyan, Arpine Grigoryan, Anna Hayrapetyan and Anna Sargsyan.
The Armenian Chess Championship kicks off on January 12 and finishes on January 23. The first round starts on January 12 at 4:00pm.
