European Championship: Wrestler Shamir Atyan will struggle for a bronze medal

The European Wrestling Championship has kicked off in Riga, Latvia.

On the first competition day Garik Barseghyan (57kg) and Shamir Atyan (86kg) came out.
In the first fight Garik Barseghyan won Moldova’s Alexandru Chirtoaka 12:1 but then lost 1:6 to Lachinau Asadulla of Belarus and dropped out of the competition.
Shamir Atyan (86kg) gained advantage (10:0) over Switzerland’s Lukas Riesen. In the quarter-finals the Armenian wrestler lost 0:10 to a Russian athlete who qualified for the final thereby letting Atyan to continue the struggle for a bronze medal. In the comforting fight he defeated 8:5 Rene Matejov of Slovakia.
For the bronze medal Atyan will compete with two-time world champion, Ukrainian Ibrahim Aldatov.
