European Championship: Wrestler Davit Safaryan lost in the comforting fight

On March 11 the last representative of Armenia’s freestyle wrestling team, world and European former champion, Davit Safaryan, competed in the Latvian capital Riga coming out in the 70kg weight class.

The Armenian wrestler started the competition from the qualification phase where he gained advantage (7:0) over Germany’s Lennard Vickel. In the 1/8 finals Safaryan won Latvia’s Alans Amirovs 14(cat). In the quarter-finals Safaryan was defeated (0:6) by Poland’s Magomedmurad Gadzhiev who qualified for the finals, while Safarov got an opportunity to continue the struggle. In the comforting fight he competed with Russia’s Zaurbek Sidakov and lost 4:9.
The Armenian freestyle wrestlers finished their performances at the European Championship.
On March 12 the competition will be continued by Greco-Roman wrestlers. Athletes of 59kg, 66kg, 98kg and 130kg weight classes will come out.
