Armenia Greco-Roman wrestling team member, Europe former champion, Olympic bronze medalist Roman Amoyan became a bronze medalist of the European Championship.
In the finals of the European Wrestling Championship under way in Riga Amoyan competed with Russia’s representative, London Olympic Games’ silver medalist Mingiyan Semenov. Amoyan was defeated 0:8 and became a silver medalist of the 2016 European Championship.
On the eve Roman Amoyan (59kg) triumphed over Croatia’s Ivan Lazatovic (9:0), and then in the quarter-finals blew away Georgia’s Irakli Shavadze with a score of 9:6. In the semifinals Amoyan won 4:0 Ukraine’s Dmytro Tsymbalyuk.
