World Championship: Armenia women’s team loses the last round

In the last 9th round of the Women’s World Team Chess Championship Armenia team competed with Kazakhstan team and lost 1:3.


Lilith Mkrtchyan who was playing on the second board won while Elina Danielyan, Anna Sargsyan and Maria Gevorgyan lost.
Armenia placed 8th with four points. Hungary team gained 8 points and took the penultimate position. During 9 rounds the Armenian chess players conceded to Russia, India, China, the USA, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and drew the games against Hungary and Georgia. Their only victory was celebrated against Egypt team in the first round.


China won the championship with a 100% result winning 9 times and gaining 18 points. Russia came second with 14 points. Georgia became the third best team with 13 points.


The Armenia women’s team had got the right of participation in the championship due to the 6th place in the 2018 Olympiad.
