Karapet Chalyan at 77 kg lost 2:5 to Sweden’s Alex Kessidis in the semifinal of the World Championship. In the second part of the match the Armenian wrestler was winning 2:1 but made a gross error after which Kessidis made a four-point fall.
Chalyan had entered the championship from the 1/16 final where had won 4:2 Japanese Shohei Yabiku and in the 1/8 final he had gained advantage 9:0 over Venezuela’s Rivas Espinoza. In the quarterfinal he had won 5:4 Belarusian Pavel Liakh.
Chalyan has already secured the second Olympic qualification for the Armenia team.
Today in the evening Artur Aleksanyan will wrestle against Russia’s Musa Evloev for a world champion title.
Nazaryan spoke about the team, its future plans and replenishment
It was Armenia’s third medal in the combined exercise.
The Championship was attended by 63 athletes from Yerevan, Gyumri and Vanadzor
Artur Davtyan didn't overcome the qualification round.
In the finals the Armenian young wrestler won 17:11 Georgian Beka Lomtadze.
