On September 21 wrestlers of 61, 79, 86 and 97 weight classes will enter the competition at the World Freestyle Wrestling Championship underway in Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan.
Armenia will have representatives in the 79 and 86 kg weight classes. Grigor Grigoryan at 79 kg will start fighting from the 1/8 final where his rival will be Georgian Nika Kentchadze.
Hovhannes Mkhitaryan at 86 kg will enter the mat from the qualification round where he’ll face USA’s representative James Downey. The 86 kg weight class is Olympic therefore wrestlers placing 1-6th will win Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifications.
Earlier Varuzhan Kajoyan (74 kg) and Levan Berianidze (125 kg), who had performed on September 20, suffered defeat. Kajoyan has already left the competition while Berianidze still has a chance to wrestle for bronze.
The weigh-in ceremony and the draw will be held on April 9
On the 5th competition day wrestlers of 55, 63, 77, 87 and 130 kg entered the mat.
