Armenia’s Levon Aghasyan came in first at the Athens International Qualifying Tournament but failed to qualify for the Rio Olympics.
At the tournament in Athens Aghasyan scored 16m 16cm in the long jump event and placed 7th among 7 participants. The norm for men which would allow to qualify for the Olympics was 16m 85cm.
In the women’s competition Armenia’s Amalya Sharoyan jumped 6 m 33cm. Here the norm was 6m 70cm.
The team members will continue fighting for the Rio Olympics qualifications at Tirana’s qualifier on May 21.
