The official website of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia continues the project, “Road to Rio”, before the start of the 31st Rio Summer Olympic Games where it will tell about the athletes representing Armenia at the Olympics, and their photos made by photographer Hakob Berberyan specially for the “Road to Rio” project.
The next hero of our project is Greco-Roman wrestling team member Artur Aleksanyan (98kg). Artur is from Gyumri. He was born in 1991. The best Armenian athlete of the last two years is also one of the best athletes in the world in his weight class. Aleksanyan is a two-time world and a three-time European champion.
At the London Olympic Games the Armenian wrestler satisfied with a bronze medal. One of the most titular athletes of the Armenian wrestling school doesn’t like giving interviews, he likes playing football and has a sense of humor characteristic of Gyumri people. Many experts have high expectations of gold for Aleksanyan at these Olympic Games. He is known as the “White bear” among his fans.
